We got a new order for bone carving.

Actually, we have been thinking to prepare raw materials of bone again as we have got very short of them prepared in Okinawa. So we must make our action for that.

At first, I inquired to a metropolitan meat processor but it was mischoice.

I told them what I do briefly and asked “if I could have some of hind legs of cows”.

The answer I got was

“ We do not give anything like that except university’s studies or researches. ”

The way she said wasn’t polite but insolently.

It got me a bit although I quite understand it’s a fresh and delicate problem about beef around Miyazaki prefecture at the moment.

So I said,

“ Well, you mean I need to have social standings or authorities for cow bones??? ”

it was a bit childish but I couldn’t help myself. Actually, I had a wry smile to what I said.^^;

and I got a response instantly.

“ that’s right.” She said strongly.

I politely gave her my thanks and hung up the phone. What else I could do…

Afterwards, I made several calls but I didn’t have good luck of good news.

Everyone said “ we are afraid but we can’t do that…”

I started feeling hesitation for call but as there was a private company which I had called and haven’t gotten any answered yet from them I gave a shot again.

The answer was “yes” finally.

He sounds very kind man and said “ no problem, we can do that.”

He explained about cow’s species and I can choose from what he said like Japanese or Holsteins or so on. Brilliant!

He sent me some pictures of bone as well.

According to what he explained, Holsteins are usually bigger than Japanese.

I asked him one more question if I could have those bone cut where I don’t use like knees and ankles.

He said it would be difficult at his place but he said OK.

A couple of days later, he gave me a call that he could do that at different manufacture and will hand them to me “ cut hind bone”.

Of course, I’m going to pay all the cost he said but I was so grateful to him as I had been talked inhospitably before him.

I am going to his place in this week and am going to get stated preparing bones for carvings.

Bones are probably bigger than I used to have so I am so happy that I can make some bigger stuff than before!
